I was driving home from work when all of a sudden my Hybrid Warning light came on with the check engine light on. It will also go off if you leave your parking brake on while driving. So far I haven't had any come back consistently and haven't had a code in a long time since I changed out my 12V battery. Hybrid drive systems are complex, so the light can come on for a variety of reasons. It came back to normal in about 5 minutes, but the light is still lit up.
There was no attempt to repair the failure. Is it safe to drive with the hybrid drive system malfunction warning light on? I did notice the traction battery is at 25%. Without warning, and safely on a street with little traffic, as I was driving up a slight incline, the engine failed to start. Warning light was still on.

Does anyone have any experience with these warning? No, there are no bus stops anywhere near my house. I think the lowest reading was 11. It was just curiosity and I do admit if it had melted down into a little puddle or burst into flames I would have been embarrassed and very sorry to have destroyed a perfectly fine vehicle. It ran like a champ when it was cold, but the second it warmed up it died. If you do this, you will get they symptoms you mentioned and the car will be low on power.
The vehicle was also out of warranty. I have a 2005 Prius with 135k miles. I've used this reader successfully on my 2001 Mitsubishi galant, but I'm not reading anything for the prius in this case. My 93 did the exact samer thing. It is a connector located near the steering wheel that shares diagnostic information from the car control computers. We bought a used Toyota Prius 2012 with about 35,000 km in early August 2015. Since it was running fine, I declined the service. My warning light has not come on since. If you would have anything to add, for us every opinion counts.
