I have the same check engine code P2187.
Jan 28, 2015 Hi Glenn. I had the same code, p2187. Now don't ask yourself; What should you do with P2187 code? Changes in fuel delivery will be indicated by the long-term and the short-term fuel trim values. What kind of car do you own? Therefore the most likely cause of P0171 and P0174 codes is a vacuum leak. It came back P2187: fuel system too lean at idle - right bank.
The first thing to do would be a code scanning to find out what code is stored. We arent sure what to replace as he isnt finding much info on it. I had my fuel pump replaced as well as the canister purge valve I think that's what it was; I could be remembering it wrong. I remember something about the off idle lean condition. Edit: Let it idle for 5 or 10 minutes and see what it should idle at, or if it shakes more at idle that when you give it just a bit of gas just need to get it too 750 rpm. I put new gas cap on that I bought from mazda. Lean mixture can also be reported because of a defective O2 sensor, but if no other code is shown this is not the most common cause for the problem.

Logged I guess I had the same code too. Since the lean fuel mixture is a result of either additional air seeping into the intake manifold or low fuel pressure, the mechanic will systematically go through potential causes of these two problems until the technician locates a leak, blockage, or faulty component to be repaired or replaced. Start the engine and note the fuel pressure at an idle and once again at 2500 rpm. Need more help with a p2187 code? What to look first of all? Inspect the fuel injectors for external fuel leaks Inspect the fuel pressure regulator by pulling off the vacuum hose and shaking it to see if fuel is present.
